|"Making Dreams Come True" i>|Non-Construction
Most people think of swinging a hammer when they think about volunteering for Habitat for Humanity. Due to the tremendous amount of planning and management required to build just one home, we have a constant need for committee members and volunteers to help with various tasks. Many of our younger volunteers (under the age of 16) and families who'd like to volunteer together choose to help here... You don't need to be an expert in any of these fields to help! There are many tasks that require only a willingness to learn and work with others.
Our affiliate also operates a Habitat ReStore. It also offers many opportunities for volunteer work both with individuals and groups. We welcome this help.
Listed below are some of the non-construction volunteer opportunities.
- Members for Committees —
We have multiple committees which often need assistance or new committee members. Among the volunteers needed at this time are those who wish to do clerical work at the office working as support for our Faith Build, Veteran, and Women's Build projects. Please contact the office: (337) 497-0129.
- Hospitality Volunteers —
Hospitality volunteers are needed to support the construction staff and volunteers. Tasks include registering volunteers, serving lunch and keeping volunteers hydrated. Hospitality volunteers work on typical construction days, Ground Breaking Ceremonies and Dedications. Please contact: [ email ]
- Lunch Providers —
Habitat for Humanity Calcasieu Area is looking for individuals and groups to consider providing lunch for our construction volunteers. If you or your group is interested in providing lunch, please contact our Volunteer Manager. Please contact: [ email ]
- Family Services —
Family Services seeks volunteer support with the homeowner application process. Volunteers will conduct financial reviews, assess housing need by visiting the homes of applicants, and assist partner families on the construction site. We also need volunteers to help in the office with entering homeowner sweat equity hours into the database, assisting office staff with filing, and planning partner family events. Day and evening hours are available.
